Transition is a community led response to the challenges we are likely to face in the coming decades – expensive energy, expensive fuel, expensive commodities and maybe even shortages. It is the transition to a lower energy, more local, less consumptive way of life and the creation of a positive, closer and more resilient community.
It builds on the work already being done by the many environmentally conscious and active groups in the area. It supports local business by encouraging local purchasing and we aim to work closely with the Shire. It increases social capital involving everyone who would like to be involved by the formation of action groups using the energy, knowledge and enthusiasm already in the community.
