No Money, No Power, No Waste — that was the ethos behind The Festival of Forgotten Skills down at the Glen Forrest Community Garden. We were proud to be part of what turned out to be a HUGE SUCCESS. Congratulations to the organisers for a fabulous community event. Everything donated and free. Free demos of spinning, crocheting, papermaking, pruning, basketmaking, scithing, wicking boxes and heaps of stuff to SHARE: clothes, seeds, plants and garden produce; kids activities and games. As well as the woodfired pizza demos. Hope I haven’t forgotten any of the amazing community members who showed up to share their skills AND brought their own shade & gear as well. LOCAL LEGENDS.
Our July movie event is a movie about the effects of the globalisation of the fashion industry and some very unsustainable practices.
CLOTHES SWAP & SOUP
We’ll be starting earlier at 6pm with some crusty bread & homemade vego soup (gold coin donation) and a bit of a Clothes Swap. So bring along items you no longer need – kid’s, men’s or women’s. Could be perfect for someone else. It’s a great way to recycle.
MOVIE AT 7PM
FREE screening of ‘Where Do Eagles Dare?’ THIS SATURDAY night!
Following on from his very popular presentation to our group on July 22, Simon Cherriman has arranged this FREE screening of his film ‘Where Do Eagles Dare?’ Expect an evening of entertaining eagle science.
Simon says: “Free entry – just turn up. Bring friends! Donations before or after the film are welcomed! Signed DVDs available on the night ($35 each), plus exclusive question time about how the film was made, and much more!”
